Ilushka and Savelle were born into the Atraviani family, a middle class noble family of some standing. The Atravianis are known for their commerce and Lord Atraviani had worked previously as the Minister of finance before a small scandal caused him to have to leave the court. Her and her twin brother, Savelle, were born during a particularly rough winter storm in the year 2226. Ilushka came out first and was mostly healthy. Savelle came out second with his sister’s umbilical cord around his neck, but he miraculously survived.
The first six years of the twins’ lives were mostly uneventful. Twins are considered taboo in Centauri culture for many reasons and so their birth caused a slight stir in the Atraviani family’s social circle, but that soon subsided. Savelle was raised as any Centauri boy was. He was taught finances, diplomacy and martial arts. But as his sister excelled in her scholastic endeavors, Savelle lagged behind. During this time he also began to develop behavioral problems and communication issues, barely speaking for days on end.
The twins’ telepathic powers came in at the age of ten. It wasn’t surprising, due to their mother being a seer, and was in fact one of the reasons that their father chose their mother to marry. Savelle was sent away at this time to join a subclass of the Centauri priesthood known as the mortalzi - those who dealt with the dead - while Ilushka continued her education as-is. Savelle spent this time period in his life isolated and miserable, often punished due to his behavioral problems by other priests, and was dreadfully homesick.
The mortalzi are a subset of the priest class on Centauri Prime that deal with the preparation of the dead. Those who are telepaths and mortalzi also will do death readings - either of people who are actively dying, or of their objects after they died, depending on the importance of the person and if they could be seen by a telepath before their death. The mortalzi are lower than the lowest class of Centauri and historically have been only less untouchable than non-Centauri slaves. The mortalzi are men who dress in plain white with cowls that cover their faces, and keep their heads shaved as a form of metaphorical castration.
Savelle escaped this life in 2254 and was able to reunite with his sister soon after. Finding her married and living at a different family’s estates, Savelle was able to disguise himself as a distant cousin using a fake name. During this time he met his brother-in-law Aurellio Parvori. Aurellio was handsome, kind and good to his sister - and Savelle, who had spent a lifetime being repressed, was instantly smitten with him. Their relationship was slow to build but when it did build it was strong, though the two of them chose to also see other people from time to time, but that’s also just a very common arrangement between Centauri no matter the relationship.
Savelle, Ilushka and Aurellio traveled to Babylon 5 in 2259. It was the first time that Savelle had ever been in space and not on Centauri Prime. He got odd jobs here and there doing telepath work, realizing that telepathy was a hot commodity very quickly. He spent a good portion of the money that he earned on things that he was denied while living as a priest - specifically liquor, expensive clothes and extravagant food. He also loved to treat his sister to those things - as if she hadn’t been living an expensive lifestyle before then - and just generally tried to buy friendships. However, he did also form a genuine friendship with the Human telepath Malcolm Ramseyer. The two were close friends in their general social isolation and awkwardness, though Malcolm’s came from growing up in the Psi Corps, while Savelle’s was from being a mortalzi.
Savelle and Ilushka’s home estate on the Island of Selini was destroyed during the second Shadow War, their father being one of the Centauri who volunteered to stay behind to make the Shadows think that all was normal. The loss of their father was harder on Ilushka than it was Savelle, who found himself unable to mourn a man who had essentially tossed him like he was a piece of trash. A year and a half later, Ilushka’s visions foresaw great harm coming to the three of them because of anti-Centauri sentiments during the ISA’s trial against Centauri Prime, and the three went back home. The Atraviani family had rebuilt their estates in the Capital City, however, the home was once again destroyed during the Fall of Centauri Prime.
Savelle was one of the many casualties during the ISA attack on Centauri Prime, dying at the age of thirty-seven. He was mourned by Ilushka and Aurellio for many years after.
